Helpers sought for group to give people more mobility

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help disabled people in the Littlehampton area to get out and about.

A new scheme launched by Leonard Cheshire Disability and Inspire Leisure tomorrow (Wednesday, July 3) aims to give those with mobility issues the chance to get out and enjoy the town’s fresh sea air.

Entitled the Happy Heart Walking Project, it involves volunteers helping people on and off mini-buses and cars and walking, pushing their wheelchairs or simply being a friendly face to chat to.

Walks will start every Wednesday at 10.45am at the entrance to the Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre, Sea Road.

To join the scheme, call volunteer co-ordinator Julia Dendle, on 07793 804318.
