HEATHFIELD SHOW GEARS UP

WHETHER you like to smell the flowers, admire Sussex farmers' finest beasts or marvel at daring, high-speed displays, this year's Heathfield Show has something for you.

Billed as the South East's premier one-day agricultural show this year's event will be held at Little Tottingworth Farm, Broad Oak, on Saturday, May 27.

Livestock entries look healthy and the programme has been drawn up for main arena displays throughout the day.

These include car and bike team Moto Stunts International which consists of a combination of quads, motorbikes and specialist Jeeps, trick and formation riding, spectacular two-wheel driving, a rollover, freestyle jumpers and Britain's top stunt motocross rider who performs a freestyle and fire stunt skills (and just happens to be female.)

Sheep and arable farmer David Seabrook who cares for a flock of 600 breeding ewes will proudly show off the skill and obedience of his four working dogs.

The Ashdown Forest Poultry Club will displaying rare breeds and elegant heavy horses join the equestrian classes by showing their paces in ridden, in hand and parade classes.

Machinery buffs will be delighted with demonstrations of working farm tractors and equipment both new and vintage while visitors can enjoy a variety of snacks and meals to the background of music from the Heathfield Silver Band.

Scores of trade stands have booked space to sell everything from local fine produce to clothing, crafts and plants.

In-the-know regulars agree the Heathfield Show is the place to pick up a wide choice of country clothing whether they are after a bargain or a one-off designer shirt.
