Cllr Dawn Poole, Hastings Borough Council’s lead member for regeneration communities and culture explained:

“The Eight Foot Square performance day returns to Hastings this year on Saturday 22 August and will take on the Big Top theme. Pulse School of Movement and Hastings Guerrilla Circus, amongst others, will deliver an exciting programme of local circus skills and you’ll also be able to join a workout fitness rave with Active Hastings.

“There will be rhythm workshops activities with Community Scrapbands using junk including large plastic tubs, buckets, pots and pans, bits of furniture…anything that makes a noise when struck.

“Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition will be hosting a people’s piano recital where visitors can roll up their sleeves and perform on the keys followed by a programme of the best of local amateur pianists from 7.30pm

“This event really does have something for everyone and allows local community groups to showcase their amazing and diverse talents.”

Eight Foot Square Performance day is devised and produced by Parrabbola - a company which produces community theatre, plays, festivals and events, incorporating music or dance and develops creative talent in the UK and Europe.

Parrabbola brings together independent arts and cultural practitioners who draw on local stories and uses participants from that community to tell them.

Now in its fourth season, Stade Saturdays brings its usual but always varied and surprising mix of local and nationally acclaimed performers to the Stade Open Space throughout the summer.
