Halloween crime crackdown

ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour and damage caused in Bognor during Halloween and bonfire night is to be tackled head-on as part of a joint authority crackdown.

Sussex Police and fire crews have set up patrols in hotspot areas to stamp out the increasing levels of problems caused at this time of year. Arun District Council is also urging residents to have fun responsibly and said there is no excuse for ghoulish behaviour.

'We will be patrolling Middleton, Felpham, Bersted and the Bognor town centre. These are the areas that traditionally have more incidents occurring at this time of year,' said Arun District Partnership and Performance Sergeant Danny West.

'We will approach those who we know have caused anti-scoical behaviour in the past to tell them there are extra forces this year.'

Figures from the past two years show that the number of crimes and deliberate fires in Bognor at this time of year is on the up.
