Gun seen in terror raid

A TERRIFIED couple were tied up by robbers who stole £5,000 and a pearl necklace.

At around midday on Saturday a 52-year-old man, who was visiting a house in Meeching Road, Newhaven, answered the door to four men.

The raiders barged their way into the house. The man struggled to stop them, injuring his head.

They tied the man and his girlfriend, aged 40, by their wrists and demanded money.

The victims thought they saw a handgun. No shots were fired.

The owners of the house returned a short time later and the four men had fled.

They are believed to have made off in two light coloured cars.
