Got the Grot?

The Hangleton-based couple, who are regularly to be found around Shoreham Beach, started their own company Grot Jobs last year to take on all the jobs that the rest of us love to hate.

In the last 12 months they have taken on everything from building flat pack furniture to general odd jobs.

"I wanted to do something different," Bob told the

Herald. "I had worked in a bike shop in south London. I had done that for 20 years."

Carolyn added: "We did not want to work in a shop, because you go to the same place every day. At least with this it's different places, different people."

The jobs themselves had indeed lived up to their company name, as Bob explained: "We have cleared a couple of ponds which have been a bit stinky.

"Clearing a student kitchen was pretty grotty. The oven was not too clean, but the customer's girlfriend was moving in, so he had to make an effort."
