Girl escapes abduction attempt

A PERVERT attempted to lure a 10-year-old girl into his car in Newhaven.

The youngster was approached by a man driving an old green car on Monday, at around 6.45pm, in Gibbon Road.

He told her to climb in the car so he could take her to shops and buy sweets. She refused and ran home.

Seahaven Division Insp Ron Preddy praised the girl s quick thinking.

He said: This child did exactly the right thing. She simply said no and ran to safety. Other parents should remember to tell their youngsters of the importance of saying no to strangers.

The pervert is described as white, aged in his mid 40s, with shoulder length brown hair with grey streaks. He was wearing a black leather jacket and had a southern accent.

The green car had rust on the lower parts of its doors.
