Gifts stolen from wedding cars

HEARTLESS thieves plundered eight cars after a wedding party.

They struck at vehicles left overnight in Manor Gardens car park in Old Town.

Saturday's family joy turned to shock and dismay when the thefts were discovered on Sunday morning.

Bride's father Mick Collins said: "I've lived in Bexhill all my life. This isn't the town I knew any more!

"The thieves just went from car to car. They smashed quarterlights, side windows, even a rear window, to get in.

"They stole wedding presents in the main.

"Yes, I know police advise not to do it, but people had enjoyed a drink at the reception and didn't want to drink and drive.

"So they did the responsible thing and left the cars there overnight.

"The gifts were locked away out of sight in the boots. The blighters even stole mobile phones locked away in the glove compartments.

"We phoned police at 6.30 on Sunday morning. Nobody had come by 8.30. One looked in but said they were on other duties in Old Town."
