Funfair ride proposal is withdrawn

PLANS for a helter-skelter in Butlin's in Bognor Regis have been withdrawn.

The holiday company has told Arun District Council it no longer wants its application for the funfair structure to be considered.

Butlin’s planning agent Claire Elliott, an architect at PWPArchitects, says in an email to the council: “The temporary helter-skelter has been removed from the site.

“Therefore, there is no longer a need in seeking a planning permission for it.

“There will be a new application made for a permanent helter-skelter once the design has been finalised and a location agreed.”

The 13m-high orange and cream helter-skelter was installed in the spring to improve the attractions for guests.

But Sea Road residents Mr and Mrs Fisher told the council they objected to the helter-skelter because of the noise created by its users.

Felpham Parish Council also objected to the noise and the light generated by the helter-skelter and its site.
