Fun day pulls in the crowds at Bognor Regis

About 400 people went along to the charity fundraiser which Emma Nicholas held at The White Horse on Sunday, May 18.

Emma arranged the occasion as a tribute to her late son, Peter Griffiths. He died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in April 2004 aged seven weeks and six days.

The final takings from the fun day are likely to be about 600 for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths, or cot deaths.

Just as importantly, those who went along to the Chichester Road pub had the chance to take away a range of publicity material about SIDS to raise awareness.

Emma (30), of Dorset Road, who also has a daughter, said: "It was a wonderful day. Everyone had fun. There was a lot of support from everyone.

"It was such a success that we are going to do more events for other charities.

"There are so many that need help, that we will probably be putting them on every six weeks or so."

The aim is to benefit smaller charities, such as the Foundation, which struggle to gain publicity against the bigger organisations.

The 12-hour long fun day featured several local bands whose members gave their performances for free. They included The Suits, The Feel and Retox.

A lucky dip, a barbecue and games for those children who were taken along ensured plenty of attractions to keep every one amused.
