FORGED NOTES FOUND IN SHOPS

Forged Bank of Scotland £20 notes have been used in Uckfield shops.

Four separate incidents were reported on Friday (September 1).

They were tendered in several shops, including Somerfield, Boots and McDonalds.

It is believed that they were tendered by two youths, aged in their early teens.

They were both scruffily dressed, and one had an Irish accent, and was wearing a baseball cap and had fair hair.

Sergeant Dave Price said: "I would urge shop staff to be on their guard, especially if they are presented with Scottish notes. Although the reports are confined to the Uckfield area at this time, these banknotes could appear anywhere."
