The town’s branch of Covers timber and builders’ merchants took part in the firm’s ‘We’ve Got Football Covered’ event, to raise funds for its chosen charity, Friends of Sussex Hospices.

The event, attended by the Friends’ chairman Kathy Gore and vice chairman Marion Shepherd, saw customers pay £1 to attempt a top score, by shooting five goals at scored markers.

This was harder than it seemed and proved an addictive challenge for many, who continued to make donations in an aim to better their score, or even get a score at all.

Covers’ Horsham depot manager Terry Lace was pleased with how many customers also enjoyed the event.

He said: “In addition to having a lot of fun, it was great to see so many supporting Friends of Sussex Hospices, a local charity that distributes funds to hospices across the Covers’ area.

“Hospices touch many of our lives and it’s fantastic to be able to give something back to those who make the outstanding care possible.
