Flats and offices get the go-ahead

A WAREHOUSE will be demolished to make way for fourteen flats, despite complaints from neighbours.

Lewes District Council has given permission for the homes on the site of the former Roche Diagnostics complex in Bell Lane Lewes.

Five letters of complaint were received.

Critics of the proposal, which also includes more than 5,000 square metres of office space, said it would be out of character and out have a negative impact on the surrounding area.

Roche Diagnostics, a healthcare company, had been based at the site from the early 80s but moved to a new purpose-built HQ in Burgess Hill last summer.
