Fire in chalet bungalow

FIREFIGHTERS worked for an hour to save a chalet bungalow after flames spread to the property from a car parked in the drive.

Two fire crews under Watch Commander John Owen turned out just after midnight. They found a Fiat Uno well alight.

Flames had started to go through a window of the property and to catch the rafters in the roof. Firefighters believe that within a few minutes the fire would have quickly spread had they not received an early call.

They managed to halt the spread of fire in the property but the Uno was destroyed and a car in a neighbouring drive damaged.

The cause of the car fire is not known.
