Family on their bikes

A FAMILY of cycling enthusiasts will take part in a fundraising bike ride for the thirteenth time.

The Stiles' family (Judith, Martin and Richard 17, Andrew 15 and Peter 12) who attend St Peter's Church, will be joining hundreds of cyclists across the country when they take part in the annual Ride and Stride event.

They will visit churches in Bexhill, and further afield - as far as Brightling, to help their local church.

Judith and Martin took part even when the children were much younger, with the kids on trikes.

Judith even took part when she was pregnant.

The idea is that cyclists ride to as many churches in their area as they can, getting their forms signed at each church.

Judith said: "My husband and I first took part in 1989 because we love cycling and this will be our thirteenth time.

"I think our record number of churches is 19, including the ten in Bexhill.

"When the children came along we started doing it with them.

"We love having a day out cycling together as a family. It's been dry in all but two years."

Half the proceeds will go to their local church St Peter's and half will go to the Sussex Historic Churches Trust. Over the years the family must have raise quite a useful amount for Bexhill's oldest church, and this charity.

The Stiles raised 200 last year but would like to taise more this time.

If you would like to sponsor the Stiles please call them on 224120.
