The event, held on Saturday September 8, covered many categories and despite not having ideal growing conditions the entries were top quality, with Alan Moody winning the Dilley Cup for best exhibit in the flower and pot plants section.

Andrew Lock won the Norris Cup gaining most points, including seven firsts, for the vegetable and fruit classes.

The Geoff Mcquire shield was won by Richard Munford, for most points in the flowers and pot plants section.

With a lovely selection in the homefare classes, Anne Dyball was the winner of the Spence cup, and with three firsts Georgina Whorlow won the Spiers trophy in the floral art section.

Nuala and Tommy won joint first prize for their lovely chocolate chip cookies in the children’s class.

After the presentation of the awards, visitors took part in the auctioning of some of the produce.

We now look forward to our next talk by Barry Newman, Vegetable Growing: techniques, ideas and advice, on Tuesday October 23 at 8pm at the Glebe Centre.
