Warning after people seen on Eastbourne cliff edge
People were seen sitting near the cliff edge yesterday despite the council warning people to stay safe around the cliffs only a few days ago.
Last week East Sussex County Council revealed there had been 50 cliff falls in the last year in East Sussex, prompting a warning for people to stay safe around the cliffs.
A statement from the council said chalk breaks away from the cliffs and falls onto the beaches and into sea below.
Despite the warning to stay away from the cliff edges and bases, people were seen close to the edge at Birling Gap and Beachy Head yesterday (March 30).
Birling Gap was the site of ‘significant’ cliff fall in the last few weeks which the coastguard put a warning out about.
