Nature Trails by Richard Williamson

Robins have almost doubled in number in Sussex over the past four years.Over the past 14 years they have quadrupled. The figures are almost compatible all over Britain.

Research carried out by the BTO, which is centred at Thetford shows the robin to be one of those lucky individual species which is advantaged by global warming. Or does it?

The trouble with statistics is that, as the government has illustrated with regard to the NHS, you can pick out which bit of information you want the public to know, and if dressed in its best clothes and with a clean face on a good day with the sun shining, it will go down a treat.
