The £16.5 million flood defence funding was announced by chancellor Rishi Sunak in today’s budget.

The chancellor said the funding was part of ambitious plans to ‘power up the south east with new investment in vital transport links, affordable housing and public services’.

He said, “This budget delivers on our promises to the British people and lays the foundation for a decade of growth across all parts of the UK.”
