According to Hailsham Town Council, gates to the Hailsham Country Park car parks, off Holyhead Close and Gleneagles Drive, have been locked from today (Friday, May 7).

The 22-acre park covers woodland, open field areas, wildflower meadows, two ponds and a lake which are popular with members of the public for fishing.

A statement from the council said this was to ‘prevent unauthorised encampments of caravans and other vehicles’.

No further detail was disclosed by the council, but an apology was issued for the inconvenience caused.
