ELDERLY WOMAN'S PET DOG STOLEN

A heartless thief stole an elderly woman's pet dog by offering to take it for a walk.

A man knocked at the door of the woman's High Street, Pevensey, home during the afternoon of February 11.

He asked for some money to pay for a taxi.

He also asked if he could walk apedigree four-month-old miniature spaniel puppy whilst he waited for the taxi.

The man never returned with the dog.

'This must be a very distressing crime for this elderly and vulnerable victim. The offender has exploited the trust of this individual in a particularly nasty way and taken away possibly the one bit of company and comfort this victim had,' a police spokesman said.
