Easter coffee morning

An Easter coffee morning was held by Friends of St Stephen's Church on Saturday.

The Reverend David Frost commented: "It went very well - very encouraging. A lot of people came, visitors as well as members of the church, and I think it went better than we thought it would, because this is the first time we have done this event at this time of the year. We always have a Christmas one but never one at Easter before.

"It has worked out very well...it has been a team effort, and everyone has been involved, and everyone has worked hard."

Velda Carter and Wendy Gubby were in charge of the ever-busy cake sale, with cheese scones being the most popular item.

"We did very well indeed," commented Velda.

Wendy and Bob Oliver were helping out with teas, coffees and refreshments, with Carol Moore.

Wendy said: "It has been very busy. We were run off our feet."
