NEWHAVEN NEWS: This time of year is a time for reflection and remembrance and walking around Newhaven town centre, you can often hear conversations about how much Newhaven has changed in the last decade or so and it’s easy to see why. The shops that once lined the high street have been turned into flats; there isn’t a bank any more and limited places to get that emergency pint of milk and packet of biscuits. But once you start to look beyond what we don’t have any more, you’ll notice that Newhaven is in fact beginning to rebuild itself and we have more than most people realise. Whether it’s the new businesses that are starting to open up or the wide range of activities that happen every day throughout the town, you’ll remember that Newhaven can be a wonderful place to live and work. Nationally, High Streets have been reported as being in decline but in the last couple of weeks alone, a new convenience store as well as a guitar shop have opened up in the town and on Denton Island, a bandstand is being built just in time for the festive season. So whether it’s a Zumba class, an afternoon of crafting or singing in the Newhaven choir, Newhaven has something to offer everybody.
