Curses on those who plan to build houses in North Bersted

Cartoonist Mike Jupp has called for a witch's curse to be put on the developers of North Bersted farmland.

He is seeking the sorceress, illustrated right, to counter the Church Commission which owns most of the site off Chalcraft Lane earmarked for 2,500 homes.

"Why are they about to sell unsuitable land for housing? By implication, the Church Commission is a religious organisation. What moral code are they following that would see houses at risk from flooding at worst being offered to the most vulnerable homeowners?" he asked.

"Well, if the official 'friends of God' won't protect the countryside, I'm calling on the 'unofficial friends of the gods' to protect it."

Mr Jupp, of Greencourt Drive, said his main aim in seeking a mistress of the magic arts was to stir up interest in the threat to Chalcraft Lane.
