Culinary delights at inaugural food festival

Taking place on the Village Green in Sea Road, East Preston, the inaugural event featured 22 traders offering a wide variety of food and drink to eager attendees.

The event ran from midday until 6pm, with 1,500 people in attendance over the course of the day.

“It went really well, we were really pleased with it”, said Simon Cross, clerk to the East Preston Parish Council.

“We got positive feedback from lots of people who came”, he added.

There was a huge range of hot and cold food on offer, from Spanish food at the Clockhouse Bar and Deli’s Estrella Damm tent, to New York-inspired sandwiches and cheesecake at the Salt Beef Saturday stand.

There were also stalls selling genuine wood-fired pizza, vegetarian Indian street food and classic fishfinger sandwiches, so there really was something for everyone.

“I loved that so many villagers of all ages came out and seemed to be having a great time”, said Mr Cross.

Those that fancied something more sweet could indulge in the the range of cakes and desserts available from vendors like the Cake Artist and Vice Puddings.

Attendees thirsty from all the delicious food could relax with a gin and tonic from the back of a classic Morris Minor from Gin & Bear It, as well as enjoying boutique wines from Giraffe & Hobbit.

Guests were able to watch food-related demonstrations while they digested all the lovely food and drink as well as listen to music.

The live music was provided in the form of jazz and retro French singer Aurora Chanson, performing from her extensive repertoire of famous and not so famous French songs.

There was also a circus skills workshop for children, as well as an inflatable slide and bouncy castle.
