Crowds Turn Out

HUGE crowds gathered on Littlehampton green to watch the spectacular free concert and firework display on Tuesday.

And the rain did little to dampen their spirits as they turned out in their thousands to watch artists such as Allstars, Cathy Burton and Delirious? perform to a sea of rocking umbrellas.

Delirious? manager and boss of record label Furious said: "It has been amazing, I am quite surprised the rain hasn't kept people away."

He thanked Arun District Council, who provided the stunning firework display, for all their help and support and said he hoped a similar event could be staged in the town very soon.

"We would love to do it all again, maybe next time we would like some sponsorship. We have shown that we can do it without that," he added.

And it wasn't just music and fireworks keeping people entertained, as firefighters from Littlehampton came along to give people the chance to explore a fire engine.

Even T-shirt painting and face painting were on offer in the Art Attack tent, as well as a giant motorbike team exhibition and kite surfing display.

Although the concert was free, members of the crowd were more than happy to delve into their pockets for a host of major events in the town.

Collectors could be seen rattling their buckets to collect donations for the Capstan appeal, to raise funds to stage these events.
