Woman arrested over alleged theft of funds from Hailsham Memorial Institute

The total amount of money believed to have been taken is still being established, police said.

A 62-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of theft and has been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing, confirmed police.

The Hailsham Memorial Institute is a family social club based in Western Road, Hailsham.

It has a fully licenced bar and holds regular live entertainment and events.

The venue has been closed due to coronavirus restrictions but plans to reopen on Monday 17 May, according to a post on social media.
