Police seek teen after Hove burglaries

Police investigating a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Hove are looking to trace a youth captured on CCTV.

Elliott’s Estate Agents in Queens Parade, was broken into at about 5.30am on August 24, police said. An iPad Mini and a black leather briefcase were stolen, however the case was later found dumped nearby.

Officers added that a flat in Wayfield Avenue was also burgled with at about 6am on the same day and a Toshiba laptop and speakers were taken. There was also two attempted break-ins nearby at houses in Holmes Avenue at around 6.30am.

The suspect is described as white, aged about 15 or 16 and was wearing a dark blue hooded coat with a yellow emblem on it, black trousers, white trainers and carrying a rucksack on his back.

Another suspect who was captured on CCTV has been identified and given a voluntary interview, police said. The 18-year-old man has been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable James Botting said: “We are linking these burglaries and attempted burglaries which all happened in the same area at a similar time. We would like to hear from anyone who recognises the youth in the CCTV images or has any information about these incidents. Please get in touch.”
