Officers issued a dispersal order yesterday, January 17, in response to disorder and anti-social behaviour in areas of the town involving groups of young people, said police.

In a statement yesterday, a spokesman added: “A total of four people have been arrested on suspicion of affray in two unrelated incidents and they remain in custody at this time.

“To prevent further disorder in the area, a section 34 dispersal order has been put in place for 48 hours from 6.17pm on Sunday, January 17. It covers an area of Broadfield including Dalton Close, Eddington Hill, Halley Close, Flamsteed Heights and Creaseys Drive between Harvey Close and the community centre.”

The order gives police officers the power to disperse people behaving in an antisocial manner.

To deter and identify any disruptive behaviour police will also be carrying out extra patrols in the area.

The spokesman said: “Anyone who witnesses any disorder or antisocial behaviour can report it to police by calling 101, or by dialling 999 if it’s an emergency.”
