Crime on the rise in Littlehampton

CRIME in Littlehampton has risen by more than 14 per cent, since April 2011, claims a leading Arun police inspector.

Speaking on Tuesday (March 6), Insp Nick Bowman, who heads up the neighbourhood policing team in Arun, said 457 more crimes had been reported over a 12-month period, compared to April 2010-11,

However, Insp Bowman added that, although there had been a rise, the level of crime reported was still comfortably below the four-year average.

In a bid to combat the surge three local support teams from Sussex Police have now been drafted to bolster policing levels in the town for the next six weeks.
