55 people arrested across Hastings and Rother during fifth week of lockdown

A total of 55 people were arrested across Hastings and Rother during the fifth week of lockdown, police have confirmed.

Last week saw officers arrest people on suspicion of offences including assault, criminal damage, theft, grievous bodily harm, drug driving, possession of offensive weapon, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Hastings Police said: "Even with government restrictions in place, we are still out and about keeping our communities safe."

Since the Government announced the lockdown measures five weeks ago, a total of 281 people have been arrested across Hastings and Rother.

In the first week, 47 were detained with a further 53 arrested in the second week. The third week saw another 72 people taken into custody.

Last week, 54 people were arrested across the two areas.
