Country house hotel wants to expand

A country house hotel is hoping to expand.

The owners Buxted Park Hotel are seeking planning permission to convert four existing buildings, previously used for staff accommodation and storage, into 15 new guest bedrooms.

The application also includes plans for a leisure facility, proposals for minor extensions to form bedroom entrances and external works to improve the courtyard area between the buildings.

Buxted Park is owned by Hand Picked Hotels.

The Sevenoaks-based company has 14 hotels across the UK and has recently acquired another three properties.

There will be no additional parking associated with the proposed extension and, if accepted by planners, the new guest rooms will be finished in brickwork to match the surrounding structures.

The structures to be converted include Harcourt House, The Bungalow, Briar Cottage, Dawn Cottage and Vernon House. The hotel group intend that the works should have minimal impact on the surroundings.

The leisure facility will include a pool, spa pool, sauna, steam rooms, gymnasium and beauty treatment rooms.
