Collision between van and motorbike in Eastbourne

Police were called to the scene of a collision between a van and a motorbike in Eastbourne earlier today (Wednesday, June 3).

According to police, the motorbike rider has been flown to hospital following the incident, which happened at 7.20am in Wartling Road, after suffering a serious leg injury.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said, “Police were called to a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a van in Wartling Road, Pevensey at 7.20am on Wednesday (June 3).

“The motorcyclist - a 30-year-old man - was air-lifted to hospital with a serious leg injury. Road closures were in place but have since been lifted. Anyone who witnessed what happened can report online or call 101, quoting serial 243 of 03/06.”

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesperson said, “The road traffic collision involved a motorbike at 7.15am. We attended the scene with crews who were joined by an air ambulance.

“The man’s injuries included a leg injury which was treated at the scene before he was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.”
