College technology bid moves forward

UCKFIELD Community College learned this week that its bid to become a specialist Technology College has passed through the first stage towards approval.

The Department for Education and Skills this week announced the list of schools and colleges that have successfully negotiated the first hurdle. The next part of the approval process will be a visit from a specialist schools inspector next Thursday who will meet staff and students.

The chair of governors, Mrs Reina Mitchell, said: 'I am delighted with the news. I would like to thank all those who have contributed to the college s bid, including local primary schools and business partners.
