Coffee making world of difference

Arun District Council helped to create a huge stir by raising more than £350 for Macmillan Cancer Support's World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

Chairman of Arun District Council, Cllr Graham Tyler, was joined by fellow councillors, members of the public and council staff for a drink and a snack, with all donations going to Macmillan.

Members of staff supplied the tea, coffee, sugar for the drinks, while businesses and concessionaires provided food and extra supplies.

Mary Campling, concessions officer for Arun District Council, helped to organise the event.

She said: 'It was a great success, and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the local people, businesses and staff who supported the cause with their time, goods and money.

'We are very pleased at the amount we managed to raise in just one morning, and know it will be going towards a great cause.'

Cllr Tyler added: 'It was a great day and everyone enjoyed themselves. It is amazing that simply enjoying a cup of coffee with friends and colleagues can make a difference to people affected by cancer.'

The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK, with an estimated two million people taking part last year, raising an impressive 2.7m.
