Together with examples of Elva, the made-in-Bexhill car which won many plaudits for company founder Frank Nichols in the Fifties and Sixties, the D-Type is among the many motoring gems entered for Monday's Bexhill 100 Motoring Club Classic Car and Custom Car Show at the Polegrove.

The show will be the club's third in Polegrove. With each successive year the event grows in attraction and statute.

A bumper entry is promised for Bank Holiday Monday crowds to enjoy.

Chairman "Digger" Brodrick says: "We are promised a display of Jaguars and a group from the Aston Martin Owners Club which must be worth close on 1m alone.

"Rarely if ever have so many Elva cars been gathered together for a show such as this.

"We welcome the group from the Smart Car Club, and all those other groups who have chosen to make our show the place they want to be seen."

Bexhill Museum's 1958 Elva Mark III sports racer was acquired for restoration earlier this year and is currently the subject of a restoration appeal. The Elva will be displayed in the Bexhill motor heritage gallery planned as part of the museum extension.
