'˜Choking child' hoax 999 call in Bexhill

An ambulance and a paramedic response car were called out just after 4pm on Tuesday (April 5).

But when paramedics arrived at the address given, there was no sign of the emergency.

It is believed the call was made from a mobile phone in the London Road area.

The incident has been reported to Sussex Police.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) spokesperson said: “Thankfully hoax calls are not a major problem for SECAmb.

“That said, one hoax call is one too many and has the potential to put lives at risk by tying up ambulance crews who may be needed elsewhere for genuine emergencies.

“We have reported this incident to police.

“We will always work with police to ensure anyone who makes a hoax call will be held to account for their actions.”
