CCTV plan raises anti crime hopes in Bognor Regis

Hopes are rising that a new CCTV camera to fight crime will be installed along a parade of shops in Bognor Regis.

The crime prevention device is planned to be installed at the junction of Nyewood Lane and Aldwick Road, where the areas of Bognor and Aldwick meet.

Aldwick Parish Council chairman Cllr Dr Jim Ramage told the annual parish meeting in a report: "I am optimistic that a suitable plan will be agreed in the next few months."

But he warned the camera would only go ahead if a partnership approach was taken.

Bognor Regis and West Sussex councils and the business owners would need to pay towards the camera.

Help towards the maintenance and monitoring of the camera would also need to come from Sussex Police and Arun District Council, he added.
