Catsfield’s Church Lane closed for water main upgrade

South East Water will be starting the scheme to install 250 metres of new water main on Monday (28 July) as part of its £390 million investment programme, with the work due to be completed by early September.

Chris Love, Delivery Manager at South East Water, said: “I’m sure like us our customers don’t like seeing water being wasted which is why we’re upgrading the pipeline in Church Lane.

“With the safety of both motorists and workers in mind, we have looked closely at how our contractor can carry out the work with as little disruption as possible to the local community.”

Construction will take place along the entirety of Church Lane between the junction with The Green and Church Road.

Chris continued: “The safety of both the public and our workforce is our top priority while we install this new pipeline and because Church Lane is narrow, and the machinery we use is large, we will need to close Church Lane to through traffic for the duration of the work. A diversion route for through traffic will be in place and clearly signed.

“Although a road closure can be disruptive, we hope that the new main will provide an improved service to our customers and that this short term pain is outweighed by the long term benefits this work will provide. Please be assured that access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

“We would like to thank residents and motorists in advance for their patience while we carry out this very important work.”
