Resurfacing work is to be carried out by the Highways Department on The Green on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th June from the junction with Church Road to Horns Corner. This will mean the road will be closed from 9.30am until 4pm for two days (work could be delayed if the weather is wet) and diversions will be signposted. Access will be given as far as possible for residents and businesses and everyone is asked not to park on the road. Buses will be re-routed.

Two village events on Saturday week, the 15th June! First, the Car Boot Sale that I mentioned last week to be held at the playing field from 8am until 12noon to raise funds for St Laurence Church. The church also will be having its own pitch on the day and any donations of items to sell will be much appreciated.

Then in the afternoon of the 15th the WI will be holding the famously delicious Strawberry Teas in the Village Hall from 3pm until 5pm. If you’ve never been to this event you’ve missed a treat, so do come along and make up for lost time! The cost is £4 and £2 for children and there will be a cake stall too. The proceeds will raise money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

The Catsfield School PTA are holding their annual summer fete on Saturday 29th June at the school, entrance will be 50p and children are free. There will be a multitude of great attractions, including the ‘Great Village Bake Off’ - details to follow – sounds intriguing! Grand Draw tickets are available from the school or by contacting Scott Lavocah on 07808572310 or e-mailing [email protected]. As there will not be a village fete this year, please support this event and have a great time whilst helping the village school.
