CASH ROLLS IN AT GLITTERING NIGHT

MORE than £8,000 was raised for Lewes Round Table good causes on Wednesday at the County Town Dinner and Fatstock Celebration at the town hall.

The hall was filled for the night which included the area's business and farming awards.

Scott Logan, chairman of Lewes Round Table, said: 'This dinner is an important event in the Round Table fund-raising year.'

He said in the last year they had given more than 7,000 to charities, including Children's Wish, the Rocking Horse Appeal and the Sussex Bowen Children's Clinic.

Mr Logan thanked the Sussex Express for its support of the event and for the publicity given in the run-up.

The sports award was jointly won by Lewes Rugby Club and Lewes Bridge View FC. They each receive 500 from sponsors Medlock Build.

The Customer Service Award, sponsored by the Sussex Express, went to Mr and Mrs Rajesh Patel of the Leicester Road Stores, Lewes.

Lewes Personality of the Year - sponsored by Circa - is Steve Watts.

He is custodian of Anne of Cleves House museum and a leading light in the re-formed Southover Bonfire Society.

The Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Knill James, went to Viva Lewes.
