Busy day for Bexhill firemen

BEXHILL'S firefighters had a busy day on Sunday.

In addition to sending a crew to assist colleagues with a fire involving a gas cylinder which necessitated shutting the main road at Camber, the station dealt with a flat flooding, a chimney fire, a balcony fire and a road accident.

Firefighters were called to Sidley House, Ninfield Road, at about 1.30pm to deal with a flooded flat. They shut off the water supply before assisting with salvage work.

At the same time, the second Bexhill crew was extinguishing a chimney fire at Meads Avenue, Little Common.

At 4.30pm a crew was called to put out a blazing re-cycling bin on a ground floor balcony at Dorset Road.

Firefighters made the vehicles safe and cleaned the road after a Renault Clio and a Honda Civic were in collision at the Hastings Road / Penland Road / Wrestwood Road traffic lights at about 6pm. A woman and child were slightly injured in the accident.
