The Burwash and Etchingham scout group are holding a tabletop/jumble sale tomorrow, Saturday, in their headquarters at the Bear car park, from 10am to 12.30pm. On sale will be quality items of jumble and if you have any items you would like to donate, please call Emanuel Flecken on 01435 882764. All proceeds will go to the scouts water weekend at the end of May.

The members of the Burwash Not So young club will meet at the village hall on Thursday from 2.15pm for their next monthly meeting. This lively group for the over 60s enjoys a good variety of talks, outings, lunches & garden events. On Thursday guest speaker will be Mrs Pennie Howard who with her husband and two friends started up the Ham Ham Nursery charity, after visiting it on a trip to Africa. Pennie will give a talk on how it started and where they are now. They visit the nursery every year taking your money donations and much needed stationary items. The afternoon will end with tea and a raffle.

Also on Thursday the Burwash Parish Council invite you all to attend the annual Parish Assembly, where you will be able to see local clubs and societies displaying what they do and how you too can get involved and enjoy a new pastime. The event is being held in the Burwash village hall from 6pm to 8pm. Do go along you may be surprised at just what does go on in these lovely villages of ours.

Last week the Burwash short mat bowls club held its annual general meeting. The chariman/captain Mary Taylor, told the members of the success of the year. How they had enjoyed running the cake stall at the fair instead of the hard work doing the teas. She told them they had finished fifth in the Wealden league and congratulated those who had won club cups. The new officers were then elected as Chair - Joan Howard, Vice Chair - Stephen Trew, Secretary - Mary Taylor, Vice treasurer - Margaret Waterhouse, captain - Keith wood, vice captain - Mary Taylor. The club are in need of electing a new treasurer so any offers!! The club will now take a break for the summer as more players turn to outdoor bowls.

Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting of the Burwash Jubilee Community fund, on Wednesday 5th June 5 at The Bear, Burwash from 7.30pm. All are welcome to go along and support the committee and with suggestions for the fund. For more details please call Halina Keep on 01435 882183

Date for your diaries, is for The Spring Supper on Saturday 25th May at the village hall from 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and include a delicious two course meal and musical entertainment. They are available from The Burwash News agents. Guests are welcome to bring their own drinks & glasses.
