COFFEE: St Bartholomew’s church invite you to join them for coffee and cakes tomorrow, Saturday, morning in the church from 10am to noon. They will also have a selection of second hand books on sale. Proceeds will be given to Medecins Sans Frontiers.

WORKSHOP: The Burwash and District Flower Arrangement Club are holding a workshop on Wednesday in the village hall from 10am to noon. Entitled Parallel for Easter this workshop will be led by Ruth Austin and Maureen Jenner. The cost of joining them is £10 per person. You don’t need to be a member of the club to go along, just ring Maureen on 01435 882045 as booking is necessary.

AFTER EIGHTS: The Burwash Common After Eight Club will be meeting in the Mulberry Tea Rooms at Bateman’s for their March meeting. They will be given a talk by Bateman’s House Manager Gary, on the life of Rudyard Kipling. The meeting is for 6.45pm for 7pm start. Jan and Heather will be making the coffee etc and donations will go to the National Trust/Bateman’s.

NSY: The Burwash Not So Young Club will be meeting on Thursday afternoon in the village hall from 2.15pm. They will be entertained by Ray Young with stories of The Grand Canyon. This lively group of senior members of our community enjoy these monthly meetings with a wide variety of topics and tales. Hey also have a great timer at their summer garden party and their Christmas lunch. If you would like to join them then do go along on Thursday, they will give you a warm welcome.

BINGO: There will be a Charity Prize Bingo afternoon next Sunday, March 19, at the village Hall in aid of Demelza. This will be our first one with our new bingo machine which will be a lot quieter that the one we have been using. The old machine was over sixty years old and was made by Ann Rumen’s father Les Standen. It has certainly served us well and will now go into retirement. The bingo will start at 2.30pm and includes 12 games for £1 with 24 chances to win a prize. Home made refreshments will be available in the interval and a raffle will also be held. We would be very grateful for all and any prizes donations. Please call Mary Taylor BEM on 01435 882107 and let her know if you can give anything or if you will be joining her.

BOWLS: The Burwash Short Mat Bowls Club had two leagues matches last week. The first was at home to Old Heathfield on Monday, when they had a great evening with old friends. The triples lost one and won one while the pairs won both of theirs. On the Tuesday evening they travelled down to Crowhurst for what was another friendly evening with some tough games. Unfortunately both the triples lost but one pair lost but the other one managed a good win. This gave us eight more points for the league table. Our next match is on Monday, away to Pevensey.
