BTP trace man accused of "outraging public decency"

A WOMAN was followed from a train at Barnham, by a man accused of "committing indecent acts" while watching her.

It happened on the 8.40pm Portsmouth to Littlehampton service, on March 12, and British Transport Police (BTP) have released images of a man they are trying to trace, in connection with a complaint of outraging public decency.

BTP PC Jason Scrase said: "When the train left Havant it appears a male sat opposite a female passenger and began to stare at her. She felt uncomfortable and looked out the window to avoid making eye contact, and it was then she noticed, in the reflection of the window, that the male was committing indecent acts on himself while watching her."

The 26-year-old, he went on to say, was followed off the train at Barnham station, where her father was waiting for her,

"She told him what happened, and the father called out to the suspect and reproached him. However the suspect turned away and walked out of the station."

The man is described as white, aged in his late 30s or early 40s, around 5ft 10in tall, and chubby, with a very pale complexion. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a white zip-up sports top with blue stripes on the sleeves, and blue tracksuit bottoms with white stripes.

Anyone with information, or who recognises the man in this picture, should call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 and quote 690 of 12/3/09.
