British Red Cross First Aid Course

THE BRITISH Red Cross will be holding a new First Aid Course at Thalia House, London Road, commencing on 18th March.

The course, which will cover everything from fractures, CPR, burns, bleeding and head injuries etc., is two hours a week 7-9pm and lasts for a total of eighteen weeks.

Course organiser Chris McAndrew said: "The course is open to anyone over the age of 15 and will result in people, who successfully complete the course, receiving a certificate which is assessment based. This means that if they complete everything that is required before the fourteen weeks are up then they don't need to stay the full fourteen weeks. Likewise if people can't pass everything during the course they have 6 months in which to get it right."

Chris said that many people who have taken the course have gone on to work for the British Red Cross all over the world, including working in a front-line ambulance.

She added: "We are hoping to recruit people who are interested in joining the first aid section of the Red Cross."
