Bright new logo for a bright new future

This is the image of Bognor Regis which thousands of motorists will see each week.

The new logo of the sun rising over the sea has been designed to sum up the bright future for a town.

It is intended by Arun District Council to be used on all the regeneration projects to inform residents about the scope of what is happening around the town.

Its first use is likely to be on the initial giant hoarding being put up to hide the former Lec eyesore along the A29 Shripney Road.

The four large decorative panels '“ each measuring 4.4m high, 4.7m wide and 0.15m deep '“ have received planning permission from Arun District Council.

They will be sited in front of the prominent former technical building which sits alongside the road. A spokeswoman for the site owner, Sime Darby London, said the company was delighted to be among the first to use the new logo for such a prominent location.

The need for the design, created by an Arun employee, had been agreed between the council and key stakeholders in the regeneration programme to present a co-ordinated image to link the various projects.

The hoardings arose from a request from the public to try to improve the appearance of the one-time fridge and freezer factory while its future is being determined.

"The aim is to provide both a signal to visitors that the site is designated for regeneration and also bring the community together to design the content.

"We are working with community and youth groups to help us create the design that will be applied to the hoarding, with the main design session scheduled for a weekend in May."
