The Teddy bears: of all shapes and sizes enjoyed themselves coming down the Zip wire, so much so some went up three or four times more. Each furry friend received a certificate and a badge with the words ‘ I am a high Flyer’ my squirrel, all the way from Broadstone Warren made it; and wears his badge with pride. I have to say I don’t know who enjoyed it more, the children certainly had fun but I have a sneaky feeling that some adults really enjoyed the event, I know my family and I did.

Friday 21 August: Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall, it has stalls with interesting goods for you to peruse. Do go and support locally made and grown stock.

Comedy Club Night The Rainbow Trout are holding their first with 3 comedians hand picked by the famous comedy club, live in the Garden Room at the pub from 7.30pm. This is a ticket only event and spaces are limited. I hope you have your ticket as it should be a good evening. Phone 01424 882031 if you are interested there may be a few seats left or cancellations.

Saturday 22 August: Brede/Broad Village Tidy Up Please volunteer and help rid the village of rubbish please meet in the Village Hall at 10am for coffee and a briefing and if you have them bring a pick up stick and a Hi-fiz jacket. Gloves and the latter will be provided at the Hall for those without. If possible teams of two will be sent out . The more who join the effort the more ground can be covered. Every one can help by just going outside and making sure no litter is in or at the end of your property. It is also a good time to look around your own property’s to make sure hedges do not hang over footpaths and roads. Help keep this Village beautiful. The Parish Council have been out looking to see who has the best garden, look in the Brede Newsletter that has been dropped through your door, all the categories are in there as well as other information. The Parish magazine is also on sale for August and September in the Village shops and in St George’s Church.

Sunday 23 August: The Church Services are as follows: Father Anthony White conducts the Mass service at 9.00 am in St Theresa’s Catholic Church on the old Northiam Road, if you need to contact the Father his number is 01424 773125

Tuesday 25 August: Brede Painting for Pleasure group meet at 9.30 am in Brede Village Hall. Maggie asks ‘Planning your August Bank Holiday Weekend? Make Brede your destination for at least one of the days. Marvel at the wonderful flower displays in St George’s Church for their annual Flower Festival and then go along the road to Brede Village Hall and enjoy the variety and competence of the Brede Painting for Pleasure group at their annual exhibition of work created in the past year. Free parking and refreshments available at both events.’

Friday 28 August: Brede Farmers Market is from 10am – 12 noon in Brede Village Hall. The Floral arrangers will be in St George’s Brede transforming the Church with their skills interpreting Great Events in History. Stall Holders will be glad of help setting up their stalls and Peter & Andrew will be grateful for any hydrangeas that you can spare to decorate the Green.

Wednesday 2 September: Merriments Gardens are to be open in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, 10am-5.30pm Admission £7, children free. This is a very worthwhile Charity and funds are desperately needed. Every penny raised on that day will go to the Charity.’

Brede Players are holding auditions at 7.00pm in the Community Hall on the Recreation Ground in Broad Oak for those who wish to take part in their new production; ‘Pantostein,’ which will be a scarily silly pantomime. The Rainbow Trout: Friday 2nd October The Rainbow Trout have their Brilliant Blues Brothers Tribute night with a 2 course meal. Singing all the favourites such as Soul-man and Tail feather, the Professional act will be entertaining you all night. They have played many famous venues around the country and it promises to be a great night. let them know as soon as you can!

Saturday 3 October: Brede WI Centenary Community Tea Party, 2.45 pm at Brede Village Hall.You are probably aware that 2015 is the centenary year of the Women’s Institute. To mark this event locally Brede members are organising this special tea party for local friends and residents. Do come along to share the occasion, celebrate with us by enjoying a delicious afternoon tea and view the exhibition of local WI history and related items of interest. The friends of St Mary’s Church Udimore: invite you to a Murder Mystery evening performed by a very talented group. It will be held in Udimore Community Hall at 7pm and will include a fish and chip supper, take your own drink. Sunday 11 October: Brede and Udimore Overseas Group are inviting you to an afternoon tea party from 3pm – 5pm in Udimore Community Hall. Entrance is free but donations are welcome to support their four charities. They do hope as many as possible will go along to enjoy the afternoon of fun quizzes and a raffle.
