Bognor charity £10,000 better off

Almost £10,000 was raised by the Bognor Regis and Felpham branch of the Arthritis Research Campaign in 2008-09.

Its fundraising year ended with a jazz and strawberry tea afternoon, which despite some rain, generated 2,300.

In May, members Paul and Mark did a 10km sponsored run along the promenade which produced nearly 1,500.

The branch's 2009-10 calendar opens with an almost fully-booked bridge supper on October 15.

On December 17, Dr Andrew Naylor and Chichester Voices will perform The Messiah in a concert at St Thomas A'Becket Church in Pagham. Tickets go on sale in October.

The charity is also selling Christmas cards and orders can be made by calling Janie Twinley on 01243 582464.

Branch chairman Bubbles Simmonds said: "We have retained our position as one of the top fundraising branches in the south of England.

"We hope to include two coffee mornings as well as our bridge suppers, and of course another excellent concert from the Elmer Entertainers.

"We are always looking for help and ideas and people willing to organise an event. If you can help in any way please call me on 01243 865783."
