Bid to convert shop into home

An application has been made to change the use of 7 Malling Street, formerly Amaryllis florist, from a shop to residential premises.

On Tuesday Lewes Town Council's planning committee expressed concern over the proposal.

Cllr Merlin Milner said: 'If this stops being a shop there will only be one shop on that side of the road.

'It's sad because when you look at postcards from the past this was a thriving area.'

The final decision on the change of use will be made by Lewes District Council.
